«From the Associació Quei15/espai_creatiu we are joining the “SOS Sector Gráfico” initiative, which brings together companies from the visual and graphic creative sectors.

Our sector is made up essentially of small structures and a broad community of intermittent and self-employed workers. Because of this, being forced to stop activity means that, for many of us, we have to cover fixed costs (structure, maintenance, financing of materials and suppliers) with practically no income to draw on.
SOS sector gráfico calls on the “Ministerio de Cultura” to complete the regulation of the “Estatuto del Artista” so that we can have full access to the same benefits for cessation of activity that other production sectors have received.
As the creatives we are, we will find alternative ways to cover costs, but that is not enough. We need to demand firm support from the different authorities to cover structural costs and let cultural creation stay alive and keep bringing sensitivity and critical spirit to a society caught in the wheel of a stalled production machine.
We’re also taking this moment of vulnerability to rethink the relationship we want with our surroundings; strengthening ties with the closest creative and art structures and bringing artwork closer to the local area. As an example, 3 ongoing projects:
- Q15 Art Gallery – Space for one-day small-format exhibitions
- RGB5 – Fifth edition of Retrats de la Gent de Barri, which will happen in the autumn, with the permission of Mr #Covid-19
- Lectura Viva! – Art, reading and performance to bring back forgotten books
