«The mirror is a slight membrane that duplicates and inverts our side of the world, or it can also be a doorway of mercury into infinite universes».

This is one of the many definitions with which Xesco Mercé (@xescomerce) presented his most recent series, Miralls Tatuats, last 23 March at Quei15.ART gallery.

These are more than 100 collages measuring 22x22cm, X-rays and photolithographs painted on metallic card, made in the spring of 2022, during a long convalescence. A balancing act to find one’s place within the reflected reality that draws us into the artist’s own particular universe.

Xesco Mercé was born in Ivars d’Urgell in 1965, from where he moved to Barcelona and graduated in Fine Arts in 1988. He is a founding member of the Xina A.R.T. collective and of the European Network of Contemporary Creation Space «Kanibal·hopox». Director of the arts and essays magazine La Conxinxina. He has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions both within and outside the region. A cultural trainer and agitator from his adoptive Esplugues de Llobregat, and connected to Ivars, where he has his studio.

The exhibition can be visited until 23 April, when the closing event and book signing for El desert químic, published in 2022, will take place.
