They are women of the Pallars. Women who have come from other lands: the furthest away,
from Peru, and the closest from Tàrrega. They are the new women of Pallars.
“Outsiders, newly-arrived women, immigrants, from elsewhere, venedisses, de pravall, sin papeles”. This list is taken from the Facebook page “Parla pallarès”. I made a post there and a good number of members responded, explaining how people born in Pallars refer to people who have come from other lands. The women featured in the documentary — fifteen of them — were born in Niger, Sabadell, Morocco, two in Barcelona, in the Netherlands, Peru, Mataró, Germany, the Dominican Republic, Palestine, Poland, Lleida, Tàrrega and Sant Joan de Vilatorrada. This is how, a year ago, a documentary began that captures the rootedness in the land of fifteen women who have found in Pallars a new framework for their identity. Young and not so young, they talk to us about coming together, culture, the process, the future, legal papers, poverty, plans for the future, their personal relationships and work in Pallars Jussà.
They are women of the Pallars: Aleksandra Skrzypek, Cèlia Guasch, Elisabet Creus, Elisabet Romero, Eva Llamas, Hadiza Kimba, Jenny Rosado, Kaoutar elKibibi, Mila Haru, Núria Agulló, Núria Sauquillo, Rianne Henstra, Sandra Ubaldo, Shanti Van der Schoot, Summar Rasras.
The documentary was screened in a cinema for the first time in April 2022 at the Molí de l'Oli in La Pobla de Segur. Its Barcelona premiere took place on 28 October at the Casal de Barri Transformadors.
The interviews can be watched in chronological order within Quei15bcn's Espai Projectes, with contextual texts and reflections devised by the director, photographer and filmmaker Manel Sanz, with design and production support from the Associació.
