DISSIDENCES. The pride of non-normative nudity

from 14 to 31 January 2025 at CC Parc SANDARU

This is a series of portraits of people with functional diversity, people who, for one reason or another, have a disability. After years of doing work and exhibitions, some about the world of disabilities, in this exhibition I wanted to give prominence to nudity.

All of us who have participated in this project have intended, by showing ourselves naked, to be a protest exercise from the perspective of non-normative corporealities. We not only claim our nudity with pride, but we also see it as attractive and desirable, whatever the non-normativity.

In an act of commitment to the idea, I also appear naked with each person photographed. Seeing myself naked in the portraits has been quite a challenge for me, an exercise in personal acceptance.

Each photo session has ended up being a learning experience. We have shared our experiences and stories, there has been complicity and affection. In short, it has been a fun and exciting game. We have literally stripped ourselves of body and soul.

The result of all this has only been possible because of the friendship, affection and respect we have for each other.

I emphasize the fact that the protagonists have wanted to appear in all their naturalness, without filters. These photos are a documentary sample of our realities, outside of conventionalisms and prejudices, proudly accepting our bodies from a physical diversity perspective.

There is an inevitable vulnerability in nudity, but there is also light and a song for life. Far from facing our disabilities like a heavy slab, the only reality we desire is to enjoy this life like anyone else. Nothing more, nothing less.

This project has had a main purpose and that is to give visibility to groups that we find ourselves in as a minority. I wanted to contribute my perspective by supporting the people who defend our rights. These are each of the protagonists who appear photographed. People who, for one reason or another, feel dissident, like myself.
