THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

from 3 to 24 April 2024

A graduate of the University of Fine Arts in Damascus, Hajo has chosen drawing as a means of intercultural expression, reflecting his own particular humanist view of a society advancing towards technification.

His exhibition proposal is an act of raising awareness of an uncomfortable reality:

wars, rising intolerance, environmental sorrow and ecological disasters are gradually transforming the planet. Our globe is tired, we must save it.

The artist invites us to step off the well-trodden paths and venture into the magical world of caricature and graphic satire. He is able to provoke reflection that helps raise awareness, sometimes with tenderness, other times with biting laughter, about power balances that destabilise coexistence on Earth (will it be better on other planets?).

“La boîte noire avec le pouce et le cerveau” “The black box with the thumb and the brain”

Through satirical drawings, a path is built exploring the role of imagination and creativity in producing our ideas. The technique of burying one’s head in the sand, the role of humour and pleasure in creative work across its different fields, the search for solutions by thinking outside the box, isolation, anger, psychological confinement, people trapped in their phones, the bully box, the war machine, and the need for creativity in times of calamity and asylum-seeking.
